#JingleVoxBox Review

Image
Disclaimer: I received these products free for testing and review from Influenster. All opinions are my own. I love getting these vox boxes from Influenster. It's fun to try new products and discover new favorites. This Jingle Vox Box was no disappointment. Seven great products, some from brands that I already know and love and others that are new discoveries. Let's jump right in and take a look! First up is this adorable Olaf "itty bittys" from Hallmark. There are several characters available and they retail for $6.95. He was quickly adopted by my five year old son. Olaf now resides on Owen's bed with the rest of the crew. Next is the yummy Biscoff Cookies. I'm not usually one to dunk my cookies, but these are so good in coffee! They're just sweet enough to satisfy those snack cravings. Nail polish is always something I'm happy to receive. This Pure Ice polish is a brand I'd never tried before. The color is Shore Bet and while

#HelloKeurig - A review of the Keurig 2.0 brewing system

Image
Disclaimer: I received these items free for testing an review from Influenster . I literally jumped for joy when I got an email from Influenster announcing that I was chosen to receive the new Keurig 2.0 brewing system in the #HelloKeurig campaign. I love coffee and since I'm generally just making a cup for myself most mornings, I love the one cup convenience that K Cups offer. But this machine also gives you the option to brew an entire carafe of coffee, making 4-5 servings. Fast-forward a week or so and the FedEx guy was knocking on my door to deliver the caffeinated goodness. I was excited to unbox everything. My four year-old was excited to have a large box to play in. Included in the package with the brewing machine was a carafe, a 4 pack of carafe K Cups, and a 6 pack of single serve K Cups. As if this wasn't enough of a treat, I received another email stating that an insulated carafe, K Cup carousel, and more K Cup samples were on the way! (Never got those extra K Cu

#BraunTherms No Touch + Forehead Thermometer Vox Box

Image
Disclaimer: I received this product free for testing & review purposes from Influenster. Since my son started school this year, it seems that he's sick more than he ever has been. Just a simple cold and sniffles, but still enough to make you feel miserable. He hates having his temperature taken with a traditional thermometer. He claims it hurts, even though it's as simple as sticking our little digital thermometer under his arm. Enter the Braun No Touch + Forehead Thermometer! It's as simple as turning it on, aiming it at his forehead, and pressing a button. Voila! Instant temperature reading! It's fast and accurate and my four year old thinks the "laser beam" is the coolest thing ever! I was actually shopping around for a new thermometer when Influenster contacted me about this Vox Box, so it was perfect timing. Thank you, Braun & Influenster, for making illness a little easier to deal with! -Desirae

August 2013 Ipsy/Glam Bag Review - Glamour Academy

Image
I've been an ipsy subscriber for almost a year now and I have been continually impressed with the products they've sent. I've gotten several full sized products (Zoya nail polish, y'all!) and even the sample sizes are very generous. At only $10 a month, this is a great little treat to find in my mailbox and a fantastic way to try new products without spending a fortune. If you're interested in trying it out yourself, click on my referral link , please! :) The August theme is Glamour Academy, to coordinate with the back to school season. This month's bag is cute -- purple/fuschia with a gold Glamour Academy print. The shape and size is just right for organizing those little things that tend to get lost in your purse or school bag. photo credit: me Pixi Beauty Lash Booster Mascara in Blackest Black (retail price: $17) I love the packaging of this mascara. The little pixie/fairy is cute. (I love fairies.) It's a sleek round tube and

Reviving my poor little neglected corner of the Internet.

Or that's the plan, anyway. Several times a week, I think, 'Hey, I should blog when Owen naps.' But then something else comes along, or I'm just plain lazy, and it doesn't get done. And it's not like my life is super-exciting, even. Life as a SAHM is pretty monotonous. But still...I miss "writing" and documenting my day. So here's my little attempt to get it going again. I can not believe that June is almost over with. That's half the year, y'all! I've been seeing countdowns to Christmas already. Slow down, people. Let's not get carried away! My focus is on Owen's birthday, which is in about two weeks. July 15th. My kid will be three. Geez! Where did the time go?! His birthday party will be on the 6th. John Deere themed. With an inflatable water slide. Should be fun! He's such a fun, funny, smart little guy. And let's be honest, he drives me freakin' crazy, too. He's too smart...he knows how to push my buttons.

Christmas recap & looking at the New Year

Image
I can't believe that Christmas has come & gone and that a new year is almost upon us! I have no idea where 2012 went--it just zoomed right on by. It was a year of ups & downs (mostly ups, thank goodness) and happily, it's ending on the upside of things. Christmas was one of the best I've had in awhile. At 2.5, this was the first year that Owen really "got it". It was incredible to watch the excitement of the holiday through his eyes. Last year, he was done after opening his first gift and we had to beg him to finish the rest. This year, he ripped through all of them happily and was so excited about everything he got. He even remembered "thank you" and hugs and kisses. My boy is all set with new toys...all he wanted was new trucks and that desire did not go unheard from anyone! It was great to be surrounded by family and good food and I was especially happy to get a visit from my godfather last week. It's been a rocky road...he battled alc
